Working Out to Create Opportunities for Those Who Need It
Making a difference in the lives of children in the community while getting some great exercise. The Raritan Valley YMCA, a cause-driven non-profit charitable organization, hosted the Spin-a-thon on Saturday, February 29th from 9 a.m. -12p.m. at the Y facility on Tices Lane. Through a collective effort, a total amount of $4,721 was raised. 107 participants and donors were involved.
Proceeds from the Spin-a-thon will support the Y’s efforts to support senior fitness, fund childcare needs, support drowning prevention efforts, fund camper scholarships, provide youth sports, and support family and teen activities.
“I love this time of the year when we hold this fundraiser and seeing everyone coming together for a great cause. We are thrilled again to have the opportunity to partner with members of the community and Y patrons in hosting this event that combines physical activity and our mission of supporting youth development and social responsibility,” said Gina Stravic, the Executive Director of the Raritan Valley YMCA. “Programs here at the Y grant children opportunities to discover who they are, inspires growth, and fosters healthy habits they’ll carry with them throughout their lives.”
Local YMCAs are a support system and have more to offer than just childcare and as a place to exercise. It’s a community, and we support each other and our individual goals. If you’re not sure where to turn to for support, community resources like the YMCA offer ready-made places for seniors, families, and others to gather and support each other in a healthy social environment.
